This month, we are honoured to hear from Dani:
Hi, I’m Dani, and when I got diagnosed with two life threatening illnesses in 2018 and survived both of them, I had no idea that my life was going to explode into diagnoses, ED, admissions, ambulances, tests, procedures and surgeries. I had no idea that I would have to trust myself, advocate for myself and speak up. 90% of my journey has been trusting my gut and advocating for myself, and I can tell you without a doubt, I’ve always been right in knowing something wasn’t quite right with my body.
Trusting your gut and advocating for yourself can be very difficult. Don’t get me wrong, in the beginning, I was silent most of the time and my Mum did most of the advocating, but as I’ve gotten older and this is my 8th year in this journey, I speak up, advocate for myself and trust my gut. Please never be silent by any medical professional, advocate for yourself and speak up because it might just save your life.
Wishing you all the best on your journey.
