Tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a self-help technique designed to reduce stress/anxiety. It involves gently tapping specific points on the face and body while focusing on the emotions or stress you wish to let go of.

EFT may help in managing depression, PTSD, and phobias. Below is a version adapted by a CCIS member, specific for ME/CFS and FM. Feel free to adjust the wording to align with your emotions.

Rate Your Urge to Rush before and after:
On a scale of 1 to 10, how strong is your urge to rush? (1 = not at all, 10 = very strong).
My rating is: _____
Take a breath between each phrase.

Little Finger Side of Hand:

I feel the urge to rush, get frustrated, and want to get things done, But honour and accept these feelings, allowing my body to return to a calm, healing state first.

Eyebrow:
Frustration and drive to rush is my achiever pattern, but I remain calm.

Side of Eye:
It’s annoying not being able to do what I want, but I choose rest/relaxation to guide my day.

Under Eye:
Frustration/anger is my perfectionist pattern, but I choose to calm my nervous system first.

Under Nose:
I want things done perfectly, but I listen to my body and adjust my pace.

Chin:
Urgency is my people-pleaser pattern. But I stop, rest, and embrace the peace of a healing state.

Collarbone:
Pressure to finish before my energy runs out. Choosing calm and balance allows tasks to flow more easily.

Under Arm:
These patterns may have contributed to where I am now. So I choose calm and healing as my way forward.

Crown of Head:
I acknowledge these feelings and thank them for their lessons. I am now calm, focused, and in a healing state.

Bring your palms together and say: “Thank you. I’m grateful to move through my day in a deeply rested, healing state.”
