Kia ora to all my Waikato members,
As we move toward the end of the year, I wanted to check in with you all. This time of year can bring a real mix of emotions — excitement, pressure, joy, tiredness, grief, and overwhelm. However this season feels for you is completely valid.
A few gentle reminders as we head into this busy time of the year:
• Pause and breathe when things start to feel full. A few slow, deep belly breaths can help settle your body and refocus your mind.
• Let go of perfection. Enjoy what you can do, and release what you can’t. Good enough is more than enough.
• Be open about your needs. Talking with whānau or friends early about what you can manage helps avoid pressure later and lets others support you more easily.
This month’s MMM includes a guide for navigating the holiday season and summer, with practical tips like these — from managing expectations to staying cool, pacing, and preparing for travel. You’re welcome to join live on Zoom as I present, and I’ll also send out the recording and a handout with helpful tips afterward.
As we step into the warmth of summer, I hope you find moments of ease, rest, and joy — even in small, simple ways.
Lastly, I want to thank you all for what you have shared with me during my time in this role, and I am sorry to say I will be leaving at the end of December due to health reasons. I wish you all the very best on your healing journeys 😊
Ngā manaakitanga,
Saya
